Kunstcabinett

Art & Design
The Arcade Cabinet is a line of handcrafted, wall-mounted shelving units inspired by classical architectural arches. Designed to display books, objects, and collections, it features rhythmic arched openings and integrated warm LED backlighting for depth and atmosphere. Each piece is built to order in hardwood plywood with a refined painted finish and wood trim. Sculptural yet functional, it brings architectural presence to living rooms, dining areas, studios, or retail spaces- transforming everyday storage into a statement.

What inspired you to make this project?
After studying architecture, I missed working at a human scale. The Arcade Cabinet started as a way to take the language of buildings (arches, repetition, proportion) and reinterpret it as something you can live with every day.

What are some of the challenges you have encountered and how did you address them?
One of the biggest challenges has been fabricating large, precise pieces in a small home workshop located in an 18th-century barn. The space is full of character, but it wasn’t built for modern tools or long assemblies. I’ve had to adapt workflows, build custom jigs, and carefully plan each step to maintain accuracy and consistency. The limitations of the space have ultimately made the process more thoughtful and hands-on.
