Volunteer for the PhillyMakerFaire

We Need Your Help!

Become a Maker Faire volunteer today. The Philadelphia Mini Maker Faire celebrates invention, creativity, and resourcefulness.  This is an exciting opportunity to share and promote home-grown innovation and creation in the Philadelphia region.

We need your help to make this event an inspiring, magical experience.

What we need

Volunteer opportunities include assisting with set-up, marketing and promotion, ticket collection, answering questions, assisting with workshops and demonstrations, logistics and operations, programming, and more.

Perks

Day of event volunteers will work for a few hours and will have the rest of the day to enjoy the event with free admission.  Plus a free staff t-shirt!

Volunteer Guidelines

Volunteer Ages: Ages 14-15 can volunteer together with a parent or guardian; Ages 16-17 can volunteer on their own, but will need signed permission note from a parent or guardian; Ages 18+ can volunteer on their own.

Attendance: Volunteers must alert the Maker Faire volunteer coordinator (valerie@phillymakerfaire.com) if they will not be able to attend the event a minimum of 3 days before the Faire. This policy is needed because in most volunteer positions, we count on volunteers to show up for their shift otherwise major difficulties can ensue. For example, our Registration and Ticket sales volunteers are critical during our peak hours. And our volunteers that help makers who need a break or lunch are also critical to the success of the faire. If you can not commit to being present for a shift, please do not sign up.

Assignments: Volunteers may be reassigned to other activities as the Maker Faire organizing team determines our needs on the day of the Faire. We strive to ensure you get to work the area you sign up for, but we appreciate your flexibility and understanding if we need to assign you to another activity/area if we determine we have a need.

About Volunteering with the Philadelphia Mini Maker Faire

We’d love to have you join our team. The typical time commitments depend upon the role selected.  Volunteers for the day of the Faire will be expected to attend one hour training prior to the event, and will have some free time during the event to roam and explore. Volunteers for other areas will be asked to attend planning meetings (in person or by conference call), when possible. Please contact us if you have any questions.
